Anti-Social Behaviour in Older Person's Housing
In recent years the face of older person’s housing has changed and this has brought a number of challenges in managing these communities.
Sheltered Housing as we knew it has morphed into different models of accommodation with varying degrees of support. There have been changes to the demographics of residents living with this type accommodation – an aging population peppered with younger residents with complex vulnerabilities.
Extra Care Housing (or other types of housing with care) is on the increase but this type of housing also faces difficulties managing the differing, dynamic needs and aspirations of the residents – particularly the effects of dementia within this setting.
This one-day course will cover the following topics:
The changing face of housing for older people
Managing people’s expectations
Alcohol and the over 55s
Tackling anti-social behaviour in Sheltered/Extra care housing
This course will use case studies and provide plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions.
The course, delivered in partnership with Axiom Housing, combines the expertise of Christine Graham and Denise Banks who has 9 year’s experience managing Sheltered and Extra Care housing portfolios.
'Good to know that tenants don't always call the shots in sheltered housing just because they are older people'
'Very enlightening course'
'I think I have a lot more understanding and most of all how to respond'
